Emergency Medical Technicians typically do the following:

  • Respond to 911 calls for emergency medical assistance
  • Assess condition of patient and determine course of treatment
  • Follow guidelines learned from training and the physicians that oversea their work
  • Use safety guidelines for transport of patients in the ambulance
  • Create a patient care report documenting the medical care they received
  • Check or clean equipment after use and replace used supplies
