Choreographers create new dances and develop interpretations of existing dances. They work in theaters, dance companies, or movie studios. During rehearsals, they typically demonstrate dance moves to instruct dancers in the proper technique.

Education and training requirements vary with the type of dancer; however, all dancers need many years of formal training. Mostly all choreographers began their careers as dancers.

The average hourly salary of a dancer is $13.16, but they can earn as much as $30.43/hour. Choreographers can earn as much as $34.22/hour, with an average hourly salary is $18.11/hour.

Many colleges and universities offer a bachelor’s or master’s degree in dance, typically through departments of theater or fine arts.
